A guest lecture on “New Trends in Construction Engineering” by Mr. M. Duraisami, Senior Deputy General Manager Larsen & Turbo Technology Services LTD, Chennai commencedat 02.00 PM on 13-03-2015 in the University Auditorium and the lecture was attended by the Post Graduate& Under Graduate students and the members of the faculty of the department of Civil Engineering. Before the start of the lecture, Mr. P Dayakar, the Departmental Coordinator welcomed the guest speaker and introduced him to the audience. The speaker, at the outset, gave a fitting introductionto the subject matter, which kindled the interest of the audience, particularly, the students.
The lecture covered all the relevant aspects of construction Engineering, starting from, construction planning, construction materials, construction technology, project management, Construction contract, public-private partnership in construction projects, etc.Each of the said aspects of construction engineering was covered adequately with illustrative photographs, drawings, statistical data, etc. using power-point slides. The audience actively participated in the discussions and asked for clarifications on various aspects making the lecture sessions lively. The speaker responded to all the queries convincingly. Mr. Moinudeen, final year Under Graduate student gave the feedback on the guest lecture and he lauded the method of explanation adopted by the guest speaker while addressing complex problems. At the end, Mr. Sachuthanatham, Asst Professor, proposed the vote of thanks.
