The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Bharath University was started in the year 1992.the department has dedicated and state of the art teaching / research laboratories. The department is recognized for excellence in research, teaching and service to the nation.

About the Department


The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Bharath University was started in the year 1992. It offers one Under-Graduate programmer (B.Tech.), two Post-Graduate programs (M.Tech. in Power Systems and M.Tech. in Power Electronics) and also research programs (Ph.D.) in the various fields of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. After the institute became Deemed University, the department has grown not only in terms of student and faculty strength, but also in improving the laboratory facilities for the teaching and research purposes. Thus, the department has dedicated and state of the art teaching / research laboratories. The department is recognized for excellence in research, teaching and service to the nation.

Vision

The department of EEE of BIHER envisions and constantly strives to provide excellent academic and research ambience for the students and members of the faculty of the department to inherit quality professional education of the international standard with skill for solving real life problems; to inculcate national/global perspective with human dignity and values; to imbible leadership qualities; and to serve the societal needs at local / national / global levels.

Mission

To provide a stimulating learning environment with a technological orientation to maximize the Individual potential by acquisition of high quality electrical and electronic engineering concepts through excellent practices in the latest and emerging technologies.

  • DM1: To educate our students and provide them with the skills they need to meet high standards of excellence in Electrical and Electronics engineering.
  • DM2: To prepare students for professional careers and advanced studies.
  • DM3: To teach in and outside the classroom using traditional, innovative methods and pass along knowledge through basic and applied research in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
  • DM4: To Serve as a resource of Electrical and Electronics Engineering expertise at the regional, National and global levels.

Under Graduate

The B.Tech. Degree curriculum has been designed to create professional electrical and electronic engineers, who can serve in the fields of core electrical engineering, information and communication systems, and other related fields.

Post Graduate

In EEE, there is growing awareness that the future training and education of electrical engineers in the industry needs to be in the area of highly efficient, industry-relevant skills formation, to enable frequent and rapid deployment of professional skills in new areas. As a step in this direction, the postgraduate programs in power electronics & drives and in power systems were evolved.

Research Focus

The Research of Electrical Engineering concentrates its activities on the analysis, synthesis and management of complex connected systems concerned with manipulating electromagnetic quantities. This is achieved by training highly qualified and academic people and by providing to the best of its ability new knowledge based on high quality research. The Department aims to make a contribution to society by stimulating an improvement in the quality of life in a general sense and by being a leading innovative force behind the economy.

Advantage

We made students proficient in theory, modelling and software packages like MATLAB, Electrical CADD required to perform Electrical Engineering tasks related to High Voltage Design, Power Electronic Circuit Design, etc.

Infrastructure


Electrical Machines Lab

Electrical machines lab is a vital part of the Electrical Engineering. It helps to learn about DC machines and AC machines. The students can acquire the fundamental study on static and dynamic magnetic circuits and concepts of rotating machines. Behaviors studies on the characteristics of Motor, Generator and Transformers. They are encouraged to design an innovative idea to develop a conventional machine.

Electron Devices and Circuits Lab

This laboratory has an excellent collection of all basic components for conducting practical classes. It also consists of Dual trace and Digital Storage Oscilloscope, Function Generators, Power Supplies, Bread boards etc. The lab also helps students in perusing innovative projects in electronics.

Electric Circuits Lab

Electric Circuits lab is special and well equipped with the latest signal generators, oscilloscopes, digital trainer kits and measuring instruments. Students of various branches design and test their analog/digital/mixed signals, digital circuits as part of their curriculum.

Measurements and Instrumentation Lab

The Students can know the procedure to measure the resistance, capacitance, inductance, power, energy and working of various instruments by this laboratory.

Power Electronics Lab

This lab has the facilities to study all power electronics apparatus and AC and DC drives. It has got 60 MHz & 100 MHz Digital storage oscilloscopes for analysis & research activities. Separate isolated AC supply for measuring instruments is also available.

Control Systems Lab

Control Systems Lab is facilitated to provide sound knowledge in the basic concepts of linear control theory and design of control system, the methods of representation of systems and to desire their transfer function models, basic knowledge in obtaining the open loop and closed–loop frequency responses of systems, the concept of stability of control system and methods of stability analysis and the three ways of designing compensation for a control system.

Power System Simulation Lab

Power System Simulation Lab helps to acquire software development skills and experience in the usage of standard packages necessary for analysis and simulation of power system required for its planning, operation and control.

Basic Electrical Engineering Lab

This hands-on laboratory course complements, Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering. The course develops basic skills in constructing and measuring electrical circuits using modern laboratory instruments.

Linear and Digital Integrated Circuits Lab

Linear and Digital Integrated Circuits lab is very important for designing the characteristics of OP-AMP, 555 Timer IC and to simulate the applications of OP-AMP. Students of various branches design and test their circuits as part of their curriculum. Guidance is provided to the students by a team of expert faculty and lab technicians.

Microprocessor and Microcontroller Lab

This Lab gives coding knowledge to control the hardware components which is used for embedded system related projects.
