About the Department

The Department of Computer Applications has been imparting instruction in computer applications with the most modern curriculum and syllabus to students of the post- graduate course since 1994. It has succeeded in creating its own place of excellence among its counterparts in Tamil Nadu and India. In fact, the department has been attracting bright students from all parts of the country for quality education in computer applications at the post graduate level.

Academics

The theoretical and practical aspects of computer technology and computer usage are covered. The curriculum covers various networking concepts in different areas like Computer Networks and various technologies. We have the latest infrastructure in our lab. The course also covers information systems with specializations in areas like Database systems, computer systems architecture, Multimedia systems, and Web-based service, E-commerce, Cost and Management Accounting etc. Our course is being updated as per industry needs.

To interact with the global environment, periodic inter-universities, seminars and symposia are conducted. For the benefit of outgoing students, the institution’s placement cell has tied up with some of the leading software houses for conducting regular campus interviews.

In order to upgrade the students’ knowledge with the changing environment, a separate online internet accessing facility is provided. To achieve individual attention, each student will be provided during the practical hours at a basis of one man-one machine.

The School is equipped with a separate hardware laboratory to solve the purpose of assembly language programming which includes microprocessor trainer kits and interfacing devices.

The course curriculum is comprehensive and aims to provide sound theoretical concepts coupled with hands on experience in the best solution frameworks. The course curricula have been designed mainly to focus on the following thrust areas system software, Data bases and Computer Networks in addition to various other allied fields and basic sciences.

Faculty members with rich research experience have specializations in the following research areas: Bio-Statistics, Spatial Modeling, Simulation and Statistical Modeling, Image Processing, Data Mining. The department is planning to start consultancy services for software industries and scientific bodies.
