| CENTRE FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY STUDIES |
| |
Centre for renewable energy was established in our University in the year 1999, to find alternative energy sources to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels which are in the verge of depletion. The non-conventional energy sources are solar energy, hydro energy, wind energy, biomass and biogas energy.
The main objectives of the Institute are;
- To provide sustainable support for the integration of higher engineering education with its energy related research activities.
- To train man power with strong basics in energy related including Renewable Energy, Energy Conservation, Sustainable energy Systems etc.
- R & D of new technologies for efficient harnessing of Renewable Energy.
In our centre a solar panel was installed which gave an output of 30W used for lighting a lamp for testing purpose. And, the final year EEE students are focusing into renewable energy projects effectively. Some of their projects are Energy resources for residential applications using solar & wind energy and Rechargeable battery power energy system backed by solar energy.
In future we have also proposed to install solar street lights, in our campus streets and solar roof tops to provide uninterrupted power during the day in the labs. Windmills installation in small level is also in the pipeline for the future. Biogas production unit is also planned, to utilize or replace the existing LPG gas fired canteens.
